TRACK OF THE DAY: Glambulance – Borderville

If the cast of the Rocky Horror Show was hijacked by Iggy Pop…well, I’d like it it. But more importantly, it’d sound like Borderville, a superbly theatrical rock band from Oxford who’ve just released their debut album – Joy Through Work.

Glambulance is my favourite track on a record packed with bizarrely brilliant tunes. With its chorus chant of “You’re going home in a Glambulance” and Thin Lizzy-esque guitar attack, it sounds like the ghost of Marc Bolan risen from the grave and bent for vengeance on the drab skinny jeans wearing masses:

“It’s the scene/it’s the scene/it’s the bright young things/it’s the angular/angular haircuts/and skin tight jeans.”
