Teehan + Lax has a great post on their blog about redesigning the iPhone homescreen to make it more useful and usable. Their vision with meetings, missed calls and emails aggregated on the main screen with your most used apps at the bottom looks fantastic. In fact, it looks like some of the skins available for the Android OS.
Teehan + Lax are now making a working version of their design for jailbroken iPhones but I would love to see this kind of option available for real on all iPhones. As much as the simplicity of the current iPhone menu system is appealing, as notifications become more common, those little red dots and numbers besides icons are more irritating than useful. I’d love to see some other designers ideas for new homescreens.
